The LYRIQ has been on sale long enough that the first cars are now well into their second owners’ hands, and the pre-owned pricing reflects it. For a buyer in Austin who wants a genuinely luxurious electric SUV and does not need the newest one, this is currently the most interesting thing on a pre-owned lot — provided you buy the right year and check the right four things.

Year by Year
NOT ALL USED LYRIQS ARE THE SAME CAR
The earliest cars are the cheapest, and there is a reason. First-run vehicles of any new platform carry the launch software, the launch hardware revisions, and in the LYRIQ’s case a smaller set of standard equipment than later builds. They are perfectly good cars. They are not the same car as a later one, and they should not be priced as though they are.
The later cars gained the things people actually notice. Across model years the LYRIQ picked up refinements to charging behaviour, infotainment responsiveness and driver-assistance calibration, along with packaging changes that moved features from optional to standard. If a used listing is only two or three thousand dollars apart, the newer year is almost always the better buy.
Charge port is the detail that trips people up. Cadillac transitioned to a native NACS connector, which lets the car plug straight into a Tesla Supercharger with no adapter. Earlier cars use the CCS port and need an adapter to do the same thing. It is not a dealbreaker — the adapter works, and CCS charging still exists all over Central Texas — but it is a real convenience difference and it should be reflected in the price. Check which port the specific car has before you fall in love with it.
The Inspection
FOUR THINGS TO CHECK ON ANY USED ELECTRIC CADILLAC
1. Battery state of health, not just the range estimate. The number on the dash is a prediction based on recent driving; it is not a measurement of pack condition. Ask for a diagnostic read of state of health and cell balance. Any Cadillac dealer can pull it in minutes. A car that has spent three Texas summers parked outdoors at 100 percent charge will read differently from one that lived in a garage, and that difference is worth real money.
2. Tyres, and the alignment underneath them. EVs are heavy and torquey, and LYRIQ tyres are not cheap. A set that is nearly finished is a four-figure item you are about to inherit. Uneven wear across the tread is the tell for an alignment problem, which around Austin usually means a pothole or a curb somewhere in the car’s past.
3. Remaining warranty, specifically the battery coverage. Cadillac covers the high-voltage battery for a longer term than the bumper-to-bumper warranty, and that coverage transfers with the car. Get the in-service date and do the arithmetic yourself — the difference between a car with meaningful battery coverage left and one without is the single largest variable in a used EV purchase.
4. Super Cruise status and OnStar plan. Hands-free driving requires an active plan. Confirm what the car has, what it costs to continue, and whether the trial period has already been consumed by the first owner. This is a feature many buyers assume comes with the car permanently, and it does not.

The single best move available to a used-EV buyer costs nothing: have a Cadillac dealer put it on a lift and read the pack. An independent shop can do a fine job on tyres and brakes, but pack diagnostics need the factory tooling. If a seller will not allow that inspection, you have learned something useful about the car.
