The configuration we hand keys to most often is a 2026 CT5 Premium Luxury with all-wheel drive: $49,200 before destination, a 237-horsepower turbocharged four-cylinder, and Super Cruise hands-free driving included as standard equipment rather than sold as an option package. That last part is the reason this car keeps winning cross-shops against German sedans that charge extra for the same idea.

What This Configuration Is, in Plain Terms
Premium Luxury is the entry trim of a two-trim lineup, and it is not a stripped car. It rides on 18-inch aluminum alloy wheels in a Bright Silver finish, and the heated, ventilated and massaging front seats are standard on Premium Luxury, as is the 33-inch Horizon Display with Google built-in and an AKG Studio Audio System. The engine is a 2.0L twin-scroll turbocharged four-cylinder rated at 237 horsepower, with 258 lb-ft of torque on premium gasoline by Cadillac’s estimate, through a 10-speed automatic. Rear-wheel drive is standard on every trim, and all-wheel drive is the box we are talking about here.
Ordered with all-wheel drive, the CT5 runs 6.9 seconds to 60 mph and carries an EPA rating of 21 city, 30 highway and 24 combined. The rear-drive car does 6.6 seconds and 22, 31 and 26. Premium Luxury is also the one trim that can be ordered with the twin-turbocharged 3.0L V6 in place of the four-cylinder, which is not offered on Sport. We will confirm that engine’s output and its option price on the specific car before you order, rather than quoting a figure we cannot stand behind.

The Case For It
What This Car Does Well
The commute is the argument. Super Cruise is standard on both CT5 trims, Premium Luxury and Sport, and arrives with a three-year OnStar plan, and it works on a mapped network of compatible highways, which around here means the interstate corridors and much of the loop system rather than a two-lane out past the lake. If your morning is a long run down Southwest Parkway or a slog in from RM 620, a hands-free system you did not have to option is the difference between arriving tired and arriving fine. Cadillac counts more than sixteen safety and driver assistance features on the car; the technology and safety breakdown goes through them one at a time.
The ownership math is the quieter argument. The basic warranty runs 4 years or 50,000 miles and the powertrain warranty runs 6 years or 70,000 miles, and Cadillac covers the first scheduled service visit at a participating dealership across the lineup, which includes an oil and filter change, a four-tire rotation and a multi-point inspection. And the ventilated seats are not a garnish. Summers here run long and hot enough that seat ventilation is functional equipment, which is worth remembering when you are deciding what to option.
The Honest Part
Where This Car Is the Wrong Answer
All-wheel drive costs you something. You give up two miles per gallon combined against the rear-drive car and about three tenths to 60 mph. If your driving is dry pavement and you care about the number on the window, rear drive is the better buy and we will say so on the lot.
Ground clearance is 4 inches. Flash flooding is a real seasonal hazard in this part of the state, and a low sedan is not the answer to a covered low-water crossing; neither is all-wheel drive. Steep driveway aprons deserve a moment’s thought too. The trunk holds 11.9 cubic feet and the car seats five with 37.9 inches of rear legroom, which is a driver’s sedan with a usable back seat rather than a family hauler. Cadillac sells the CT5 as a sedan and publishes no tow rating for it, so if you need to pull a trailer, we will point you at an Escalade rather than sell you the wrong car.

Who Should Order It, and Who Should Not
Daily highway commuter → Premium Luxury with all-wheel drive. The standard hands-free system is the whole point, and the added traction covers wet mornings.
Cheapest way into a new Cadillac sedan → Premium Luxury, rear-wheel drive. Same standard equipment, better economy, lower price.
Wants the car to look like it drives → CT5 Sport, from $50,200. Nineteen-inch wheels, the aero grille and a spoiler, on the same engine.
Wants brakes for a canyon road → Sport with the available Brembo V-Performance Brakes, which the entry trim does not offer.
Actually wants speed → not this car. Start at the CT5-V.
